Car Show – David Boller
May 15th at 6:30 we will have our final meeting and fill goody bags. Diane Hahn contacted me about someone she met at Belle Plaine that can DJ for us on May 18th. Between Aleta and Roxana, we have all the paperwork we need for the show. We have copies for 200 cars. Roxana will make Logo sheets to put in the goody bags.
David and Aleta took fliers to the Marauder show. They talked to many people that gave positive feedback for last year’s show and plan to attend this year. Looks like we will have a bigger attendance. Let’s hope the weather is better than it was for the Mulvane Marauder show.
Robin Gatson would like to be a vendor at the car show. She sells cups and mugs with old cars on them. The wind chime guy is not yet sure if he will come. Sam said he thought he was planning to come.
Calendar - Bryan Bell – We had 6 rentals scheduled for March.
Old Business
The new ceiling and lights are in the foyer and restrooms. They also have new sinks and toilets. We also have a new insta hot electric heater that we also help with our energy bill.
The new sign that Sam Bell designed and made is not up on the northwest side of the building. It looks really great at night!
Bryan talked to KDHE about raising the rent on the air monitoring station. He was informed that they have a contract with us until May 2025.
New Business
We got a communication from K-state research and extension asking people to plant an extra row in our gardens and donate the food to the hungry. There are several locations for donations.
Lucretia wanted us to know that she can’t figure out the state and federal tax issue. No one will help her. She would like to hire an accountant to help us figure it out. Sam Bell moved that we look into hiring an accountant. Woody Stitt seconded the motion. Passed. Roxana will reach out to Matt Hollowell to see if he can help us.
Sam would like to put up a gazebo behind the center, approximately 16’ x 16’. It would be nice for parents who bring their kids to the playground, parties, reunions. etc.
Janice – If anyone is donating picnic tables, could we use those around the gazebo or playground?
Discussion: David – I think it’s a great idea. It would be an improvement to the center.
Janice – How big? Sam – I think the actual shade will be about 17’ and the whole thing 16’ or 24’.
Mulvane replaced their park equipment and Janice asked about the old stuff, but the city did not take are taking it out and it is damaged. They will be doing another park in the future and will let us know. Sam said to tell them that we would come take it out. We also need to look into replacing/adding swings.
Sam – Some of the other venues have televisions on the walls for presentations, videos, celebrations of lie, etc. A television like that we could take photos of the old curtain and run it on the tv at events like the soup supper. We could also sell advertising to run on it which would be a money maker.
Roxana needs to send a thank you to Concrete Products, 221 W. 37th St. N., Wichita, KS 67204 for the cement culverts for our playground.
